Recipe For a 7 Layer Dip

This is one of the best party snacks ever. 7 layer dip is one of the best. Layers of fresh salsa, refried beans, guacamole, cheddar cheese, and our favorite toppings make an appetizer spread look bright and cheery.

We enjoy entertaining and frequently serve snacks such as jalapeno popper dip and pigs in a blanket. This 7-layer bean dip is served with tortilla chips and vegetables (which can also go alongside other dips like spinach dip for a great party spread).

What Are The 7 Layers In 7 Layer Dip ?

Many of you may be wondering What is In 7 Layer Dip? ( 7 layer dip order of ingredients )

This dip has (definitely) 7 layers, and the layers are quick and easy to make. The layers in 7 Layer Dip are as follows:

  • Seasoned Refried Beans
  • Guacamole
  • Sour cream (mixed with cream cheese and taco seasoning)
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Diced Tomato
  • Sliced Olives
  • Sliced Green Onions

You can easily substitute your favorite toppings for these. If you want to add ground beef, cook it until it’s no longer pink. Taco seasoning can be added for flavor and to keep things cool. Combine it with the beans and sour cream.

This Mexican 7-layer dip also works well with jalapenos and cilantro as toppings. Use your imagination!

How To Make Seven Layer Dip?

  • The seven layer bean dip starts with a mixture of refried beans and milk.
  • Using a hand mixer not only makes mixing easier but also ensures a creamy consistency that won’t break your chips as you scoop them!
  • Mix the cream cheese with a hand mixer, just like the Jalapeno Popper Dip, to make it easier to scoop.
  • To prevent discoloration, layer the guacamole in the center.
  • Green onions, shredded cheese, and olives or tomatoes can be added on top. If you like it spicy, I also like to add diced jalapenos!
  • Chill the 7 layer dip for about an hour before serving to bring the flavors together!

How Long Does 7 Layer Dip Last In Fridge?

The 7 layer dip keeps in the fridge for 3-4 days. The longer it is stored, the more the layers bleed together and it can become watery (I just drain it off). It may not look pretty after the first 24 hours, but I can assure you that it will still taste amazing!

If you have extra leftovers, add them into enchilada casserole or taco soup!

TIPS FOR THE PERFECT DIP

  • Spread the ingredients into even layers with an offset spatula.
  • To save calories, use low fat cheese and low fat sour cream.
  • You can use either homemade or store-bought guacamole; both work well.
  • I like to use freshly grated cheddar cheese. Anti-caking agents and preservatives are frequently found in grocery store bags of pre-shredded cheese, which can affect the taste and texture of the cheese.
  • Make sure the salsa covers the entire layer of guacamole. The acid in the tomatoes will keep the guacamole from browning.
  • This dip can be prepared up to 8 hours ahead of time. Refrigerate your dip, covered, until ready to serve.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¼ cups salsa
  • 16 ounces refried beans canned
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1 cup guacamole prepared
  • 1 ½ cups cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup black olives or tomatoes

  6. 1 hour before serving, chill. Serve with tortilla chips or crackers as an accompaniment.
